TORAYFAN™ BO is a biaxially oriented polypropylene film by Toray Industries, Inc. It is widely used for general industrial, packaging and capacitor applications. This film is sold by Toray Advanced Film Co., Ltd. primarily for use in packaging.

  • Tough film with a high tensile strength in both the machine and vertical directions due to its biaxial orientation.
  • Excellent transparency. Scratch-resistant gloss provides good printing results and increases the product value of the contents.
  • Extremely low moisture-vapor transmission rate makes it ideal for packaging items that require moisture retention.
  • Maintains its properties over a wide temperature range of -50°C to +130°C, allowing food to be boiled and sterilized or stored frozen.

Processability

  • Printing: Gravure and flexo inks for polypropylene can be used. Ink should be carefully selected after reviewing printing surface (treated or untreated), post-processing method (lamination, quantity) and packaging method.
  • Lamination: Suitable for dry lamination, and extrusion lamination with anchor coating. Adhesive can be urethane-based for dry lamination and urethane-, imine- or titanate-based for extrusion lamination. Select the adhesive that is right for your application.
  • Heat sealing: Heat-seal types such as B128 can be heat sealed as they are. Other types can be heat sealed as laminates such as PE, EVA and CPP. Use caution when setting the temperature, as heat shrinkage may cause the appearance to worsen if the sealing temperature is too high. Other types of horizontal-cut and ultrasonic seals can also be used.
